Greetings from The University of New Hampshire1! There is something just so fabulous about the morning light at the LHH. This past Saturday I took some time to actually sit down and eat my breakfast - something I often do standing at the counter. I read my book, sipped my coffee, and ate slowly, and it was lovely. I’m just not very good at being present most of the time - which is why I use mechanisms like photography to slow myself down. There are many things I get upset about - politics, inflation, the price of eggs, the fact that UNH is going through another round of budget cuts - and most of these things I can do little or nothing about. I’ve been trying to repeat the mantra I wrote about last Sunday - this too shall pass. Everything passes - we will all die and be forgotten. What matters is what we do with what we can control to be better, and to do better.
I think maybe that’s enough for today.
As usual, willing good for all of you!
It occurred to me, after nearly 10 years of writing this newsletter, that when I write my “greetings from UNH" that people might think I am speaking on behalf of the institution. That is very funny. I’m not sure that the UNH president could pick me out in a line up. So please understand that all opinions expressed here are my own, and do not represent the institutional positions of UNH. It’s akin to me writing, Greetings from America! And someone saying I am writing on behalf of the US government. As much as I might want it to be so, no one of reasonable judgement is going to believe it to be so.
